Join us on Thursday, May 12th @ the Latino Cultural Center for Literacy in Motion: An Evening of Poetry and Performance. The headliner of the event is U.S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera who will share with us his journey from son of a migrant farming family to world renown poet.
Joining Juan Felipe Herrera will be a performance by World Poetry Slam Champion Joaquin Zihuatanejo, a Dallas native renown for his fierce and charismatic brand of poetry.
Other featured performers include Jason Edwards, Jonathan GNO White, and Jason Carney, reuniting to perform their groundbreaking "Super Heroes, Baby" – the first group poem to receive a perfect score of 30 in National Poetry Slam Finals history, and founder of the Dallas Poetry Slam and slam champion Clebo Rainey . The night will kick off with a series of poetry from up-and-coming young poets of Dallas who are blazing their own impressive paths to the future!
The evening will be moderated by Krys Boyd, host of KERA's Think.
