ABERG CENTER for LITERACY Receives $10,000 Grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation to Support Adult & Family Literacy
Dallas, TX – May 19, 2016 – This week, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded ABERG CENTER for LITERACY a $10,000 grant to support adult & family literacy. This local grant award is part of over $7.1 million in grants awarded to more than 900 schools, nonprofits and organizations across the 43 states that Dollar General serves.

Aberg Center for Literacy provide tuition free daily ESL, High School Equivalency, and Spanish Education programs as well as a partnering with outside organizations and professionals to provide classes in finance, computer, health, and employment literacy and citizenship. As part of Aberg Center for Literacy’s multi-generational approach to learning, adult students who have children in the Early Childhood program are required to take a weekly Family Literacy class where they learn parenting skills, share experiences, and are provided with access to resources and information to help empower them as parents and enrich their family life. This year, the Family Literacy program was extended to students who are parents and grandparents of school aged children.
